Happy GIFiversary

Updated: Feb 7

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

It's the one year anniversary of GIF Bible Study! When we started in October 2022, we didn’t plan beyond supporting one another's spiritual growth. Now a year later, we are witness to the knowledge and favor God gives to those who seek Him thru His Word. Thanks be to God!

Q&A with Rev. Dr. Eric H. Brown and his daughter Amanda; Co-Founders of GIF Bible Study:

1. How did you all start GIF Bible Study?

Amanda: This Bible study started bc my grandma and my dad were on me about practicing forgiveness. It seemed only right to share the hot seat with my cousins, so we extended phone calls into a weekly video conference to explore scripture together. My dad later introduced the name "Growing In Faith" bc it encapsulated the group's shared goal.

2. How has the ministry grown over the year?

Rev. Brown: The weekly attendee group has grown more engaged and new people have gotten involved. I was humbled that my family would call on me to lead this study and trust me to help them better understand The Word. I'm grateful that people are finding it useful.

3. What's been the most enjoyable part of the experience?

Amanda: We're placemaking a virtual home for relatives and play relatives to find reliable, open dialogue about personal beliefs. I grew up feeling comfortable to ask my dad and my grandpa questions about God. Now new generations continue to benefit from that unique resource. It's an extension of our family legacy.

Rev. Brown: The discussions are my favorite part as well. It's a fun and thought provoking hour. I learn from all the curious viewpoints and different interpretations that we share among the group. I know the historical context and history of biblical interpretation, but am constantly inspired by how the Word can resonate differently with each person.

4. What's next for GIF Bible Study?

Rev. Brown: I'm a proponent of spiritual growth, and if you want to experience more of God's grace and power then you must grow in your relationship with God through Jesus Christ. My hope is that we continue to edify each other in Biblical study, and continue to engage more people through this group.

Amanda: The word for Thursdays is always growth, so I agree with my dad here. We've already seen attendees empowered with more wisdom; people seeking out peace & reconciliation, creating their own study routine, sharing practices with their networks bc they were inspired by GIF Bible Study. I can't even imagine what to ask God for next, but I believe there's more in store.

Rev Brown: What's next for Amanda needs to be finding an in-person church home.

Amanda: Yes, yes, let’s just stay focused right now, geez. Happy Anniversary to GIF Bible Study! See you on Thursday!
